Bey is carrying twins, y’all!

Beyoncé is no stranger to art history references as seen in her Formation video or in Lemonade in general, her Halloween costume, and selfies. Why would her pregnancy announcement be any different?

This picture was shared on Bey’s IG and literally broke the record for most likes, which is apparently something that is recorded by the Guinness Book of World Records … But, then again, so is the record for having the most snails on your face. For those of you who must know the record is 43.

Before we even had confirmation that B did a whole photoshoot with fantastic art historical influences we speculated that this might have been the case:

Botticelli’s Primavera rang a bell as did Angelica Kauffman’s Woman Dressed as a Vestal Virgin

Even more obviously is The Birth of Venus by Sandro Botticelli at the Uffizi Gallery. Replacing Venus would be the easiest photoshop ever.

Olympia by Édouard Manet at the Orsay Museum

We loved the references to Frida (as always), but @alliedearie suggested the Lady of Guadalupe, and with all of those veils we couldn’t agree more.

Seen here is Self-Portrait Dedicated to Dr. Eloesser and Virgin of Guadalupe by Isidro Escamilla at the Brooklyn Museum.

Bonus: Blue Ivy looking statuesque like Madame X by John Singer Sargent at the Metropolitan Museum of Art
