“The Garden of Earthly Delights” – sounds appealing, right?

Well, maybe if you enjoy standing upside-down, naked, spread-eagled with a giant strawberry on your privates in a mystical lake.

Hey, don’t knock it ‘til you’ve tried it.

The Garden of Earthly Delights by Bosch at the Prado remains one of the weirdest, craziest paintings of all time, especially in context:  this lascivious triptych looks like it’d be found in a contemporary gallery today – yet it was painted in the 1500′s for a church.  A church. Simply stunning.

This painting now enjoys a cult-ish status, which led to this finely emoji-fied parody by artist Carla Gannis.

“Gannis transformed a well known painting – Hieronymus Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights – into a debaucherous orgy of emoji, turning nude sinners and heinous monsters into palatable emoji creatures. At least, palatable at first. Like the clever Bosch, her detailed digital rendering is quaint from afar, tempting viewers to squint their eyes and peer into the depths of her wacky emoji world. And that’s when the horrors come to light.”  - via HuffPo

Can I get a hell yeah?  (Or maybe at least a black emoji update?)

Props to Carla Gannis, cuz her video’s got us feelin’ like:
