Today is #MuseumSelfie Day! That means that today, you don’t have to fight your natural urge to snap a selfie inside the dignified space of a museum. Though it’s usually painfully awkward to be that person who takes pictures of paintings instead of, say, appreciating them in person, today, you are encouraged to whip out that phone and snap that selfie!

Take a cue from Katy Perry, who doesn’t wait for #MuseumSelfie Day to take selfies in front of artworks. And she sure isn’t afraid to go all-out with her poses either.

Here she is in front of Sandro Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus, looking less than pleased with this colorful rendition of the myth.

Perhaps Perry was more conservative than we thought. At least Venus was trying to take proper measures to ensure that the photo wouldn’t get flagged on Instagram. But as we all know, that nip slip is dangerous.

We are aware that Venus has neither a pair of Daisy Dukes nor a bikini top.

Here is Perry again, in front of Grant Wood’s American Gothic.

We’re not sure she fully understands the potential in the interplay between selfie poses and the subjects’ poses.

And here’s Perry taking a selfie with her own portrait titled Cupcake Katy at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC. Unsurprisingly, she knows exactly how to pose for this one.

Even Eminem flaunts his appreciation for good art as he strikes a serious pose in front of the Mona Lisa

Something tells us he didn’t quite get the memo on the whole subtle smirk thing. Instead, he goes with his signature non-smile.

Good enough, Mathers.

Beyonce is seen taking a selfie in front of this Neoclassical sculpture during a private tour of the Louvre

Queen B didn’t have to swallow her pride by taking selfies at a museum in front of other visitors. Instead she can pose proudly, because taking a selfie with this much arm room to get just the right angle is not an embarrassment, but a privilege.

We hope you take your #MuseumSelfie today, and we promise you’ll thank us tomorrow!
