More about Korea (soldiers in brush)

The Korean War is often called the Forgotten War but we are assuming that it wasn’t forgotten by the almost 55,000 people that died and also their friends and families.

It’s mostly forgotten because history class is such a snoozefest and also textbooks have a funny way of skipping over the parts where America did shady sh*t. The violent parts of the Korean War lasted from 1950 to 1953 but there has never been an official peace treaty so technically it’s still going on. And with Trump and Kim Jong-un going at it, it’s not impossible that the violence will flare up again. Isn’t it fun when you can accurately compare the world’s political climate to a bad case of Herpes?

Feingersh went out there from 1950 to 1951. He had gained a reputation for putting himself in danger to get the shot – “parachuting with paratroopers, lying right in the path of stunt cars and having himself tied to the periscope to photograph a submarine diving.” Imagine what his Insta game would be like now. He was definitely born in the wrong century. Such a shame. Anyways. In order to get this particular shot Feingersh had to run around with “his cameras, the gun, pack, and other standard G.I. equipment” all while trying not to get shot or dismembered in any way, shape, or form. It all seems very exciting but the adversities and the likelihood of death were very extreme. He ended up dying ten years later as a result of alcoholism, and mental and physical illness that was not not caused by his time in the Korean War. We can probably count him as one of the casualties.
